چکیده
This review provides a thorough analysis of the most famous mass transfer models for random and structured packed-bed columns used in absorption/stripping distillation processes, providing detailed description equations to calculate parameters, i.e., gas-side coefficient per unit surface ky [kmol·m?2·s?1], liquid-side kx interfacial packing area ae [m2·m?3], which constitute ingredients assess rate columns. The have been reported original form provided by authors together with geometric model fitting parameters published several papers allow their adaptation packings different from those covered papers. Although work is focused on collection carefully described ready-to-use equations, we tried underline criticalities behind these models, mostly rely assessment fluid-dynamics such as liquid film thickness, hold-up area, or real paths any mal-distributions flow. To this end, paper reviewed novel experimental simulation approaches aimed better describe gas-liquid multiphase flow dynamics column, e.g., using optical technologies (tomography) CFD simulations. While results studies may not be easily extended full-scale columns, improved estimation main fluid-dynamic will provide more accurate modelling correlation liquid-gas phenomena packed

Investigation of mass transfer coefficients in irregular packed liquid-liquid extraction columns in the presence of various nanoparticles
In the present study, the effect of various nanofluids on mass transfer coefficients in an irregular packed liquid-liquid extraction column was investigated. The chemical system of toluene–acetic acid–water was used. 10 nm SiO2, TiO2 and ZrO2 nanoparticles with various concentrations were dispersed in toluene-acid acetic to provide nanofluids. The influence of concentration and hydrophobicity/h...
متن کاملStudy on Mass Transfer Enhancement in a Gas-Liquid System Using Nanomaterials
The main objective of this paper is to examine the effect of nanomaterials on mass transfer coefficient in bubble type absorption of carbon dioxide by experiment. The absorption process is carried out in a bubble column and in room temperature. Mass transfer coefficient, saturated concentration of CO2, and gas holdup are determined in this system. The kinds of nanomaterials, the concentrations ...
متن کاملLiquid mixing and gas–liquid mass transfer in a three-phase inverse turbulent bed reactor
In this research work, hydrodynamic characteristics and gas–liquid mass transfer in a laboratory scale inverse turbulent bed reactor were studied. In order to characterize internal flow in the reactor, the residence time distribution (RTD) was obtained by the stimulus-response technique using potassium chloride as a tracer. Different solid hold-up (0–0.37) and air superficial velocity (2.7–6.5 ...
متن کاملTurbulent Events and Gas-Side Mass Transfer Coefficients in a Wavy Air-Water Stratified Flow
Turbulence structure on the gas side of a wavy stratified flow was experimentally investigated in a near horizontal 18.7 cm (H) 10 cm (W) 5.5m (L) rectangular duct.By applying the Variable Interval Time Averaging (VITA) technique to the hot wire anemometer measurements frequency of occurrence of turbulent events were detected near the air-water interface. Experimental results showed that fr...
متن کاملMass Transfer Coefficients in Pulsed Perforated-plate Extraction Columns
This study examined the mass transfer performance in a pulsed perforated-plate extraction column with diameter of 50 mm using two different liquid systems. Mass transfer coefficients have been interpreted in terms of the axial diffusion model. The effects of pulsation intensity and dispersed and continuous phase velocities on the mass transfer performance have been investigated. Three different...
